Fred Dömpke

German bandleader, guitarist, bandoneon player and viola player, born 1907 in Hamburg (died 1985). He was 13 for the first time on stage, at 17 he played in a 7-man band. In Berlin he played guitar in [a625143]'s dance orchestra, with whom he made recordings in 1930 ('Herr Ober zwei Mokka'). In the following years he was a.o. involved in recordings by [a2775845], Erhard Bauschke and [a625000]. He also directs the formation Fred Dömpke and his zither orchestra. In 1944, Dömpke was on the God-given list of the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. After the war he appeared in the formation Dömpke Original Tango Orchestra, among others.
