Rel Bushnell

Edward Rel Bushnell was born in Illinois on May 11, 1945. After graduating from Northwestern (now West Prairie) High School in 1963, he attended Western Illinois University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1967. He had been a student teacher at La Harpe High School. Rel was a U.S. Air Force Captain in the 54th Weather Reconnaissance Service Typhoon Chasers when he died on October 12, 1974, in the South China Sea chasing "Typhoon Bess".
