This orchestra was conducted by Harry Frederick Phillips (trumpet, piano, violin), the eldest of three brothers, with Isadore "Sid" Simon Phillips (clarinet, alto, baritone saxophone) as the driving musical force and Ralph Phillips (banjo, guitar) as the youngest. Around 1923-24 the three Phillips brothers were members of Bert Zeumer's band in London. Shortly thereafter, they formed their own band, The Riverians. (The commercial management was in the hands of Krikor Kélékian, who later became a well-known orchestra leader in France under the name ž Grégor.) In the fall of 1924, the "Original American Jazz Band Riverians Orchestra" gave guest performances in the Berlin Esplanade and took part in this period recorded a few titles for Vox, including Henpecked Blues (Vox 01715) and O Sister Ain't That Hot? (Vox 1736)
