FREMEN is an artistic alias of Natalia Anna Wójcik, a Polish-Estonian experimental-electronic music producer, performer and audiovisual composer. Despite having more than a decade of classical training in piano performance from various music schools in Poland (as well as a degree in economics), it was in Estonia where Natalia started producing and performing music live and embarked on a path of becoming an independent music artist. FREMEN’s work focuses on exploring the effects of sound on the human psyche. She firmly believes in both the healing as well as destructive powers of music, placing the timbre of sound and the rich potential of the female voice as focal points of her practice. Moreover, FREMEN’s music and performance are a personal journey of discovering spirituality outside of imposed religious dogma. Aggressive, highly-processed sounds, the full range of the artist’s voice as well as ritualistic elements used in the shows are meant to drag the audience out of the all too prevalent numbness and expectations of how an electronic music set should look like. FREMEN aims to create a contemporary musical rite.
