Os Favoritos Da Catira

Formed in the late 70's, in the city of Guarulhos, SP, Brazil. The group is made up of men and women committed to preserving the rustic culture and passing on caboclo wisdom to the third generation of members. Catira, also known as cateretê, is a kind of country dance from the colonial era, which has influences from Indigenous, African and European cultures. This dance is a mix of handclaps and tap dance following the rhythm of the music played by a viola caipira, the main reason why this style is the most used for this.
