Metal band from Borås, Sweden. Formed in February 2004 by guitarist Daniel Carlzon and bassist Stefan Abramsson. Drummer Jackie Wacklin was asked to join shortly afterwards. A revolving door of other musicians came and went throughout the years, mostly singers and second guitarists. For most part the band operated as either a trio or a quartet but was also twice a quintet, albeit only briefly each time. Devastation drew inspiration from a variety of metal subgenres and never labeled itself as anything in particular, but acknowledged a close affiliation with the sound of sludge metal. The band would often confidently market itself as the "heaviest band in town" due to their sledgehammer sound and the city's large frequency of emo and indie-pop acts in the 2000s. The band was at its most active peak from 2006 to 2009, producing several different recordings and frequently playing live shows around their home town. Devastation officially split up in February 2014, its 10th anniversary. Some members went on to reform as Into The Pentagram and making a change in musical direction.
