Swiss violinist, orchestra leader and music pedagogue (* May 31, 1908 in Bern, † April 27, 1970 in Thun). Succeeding August Oetiker he was steady conductor of the Orchesterverein Thun (later renamed to Thuner Stadtorchester) and leader of the Lehrergesangsverein Thun from 1940 on until his death, He was succeeded by François Pantillon. Ellenberger was educated in violin by Alphonse Brun and later by Fritz Hirt. Furthermore he was educated in singing by Carl Rehfuss and in piano by Willy Girsberger. Also upskilled being taught by [a835066] in Lausanne and by Eugène Bigot in Paris. He started the series of subscription concerts at the Orchesterverein Thun where renowned artists participated, among them [a532086] and [a832900].
