Samuel Patterson

Rev. Samuel Patterson (August 31, 1920/Morgan City, MS-September 16, 2004/Oak Lawn, IL.) In 1957, Patterson established the St. Samuel Temple Church of God in Christ (Chicago). In addition to his pastoral ministry he released several recordings (at least on the Miss and Jericho labels, the latter as Elder instead of Reverend). He had his television show in Chicago on Channel 26. He trained the Progressive radio choir of Maywood, IL under the late Pastor Alford. During this time he also accompanied Mahalia Jackson with his guitar during some of her recordings. For the calypso songwriter, see S.C. Patterson
