Derek Johnson (21)

Drummer and bass player Derek started off playing drums in his local church. By the age of 12, his mind was set that the bass guitar was his true calling, and began to pursue the instrument. Not too long after, Derek moved to bass at his local church, and began to play with a few groups around his home area, as well as his high school jazz band. As time went on, Derek started getting noticed for his bass soloing, and "slap bass" techniques, which he developed from hours of studying idol, Victor Wooten. He then (taking after his dad) started playing with several bands throughout Detroit. Derek is now on tour full time with Australian world-blues fusion band, Harper & Midwest Kind.
