Modern Day Drifters

Joe Churchill and Kristen Kelly met while involved in separate projects in the central Texas music scene. After the musical adventures they were involved with ended around the same time in the summer of 2006, they decided they should start writing some songs together. Soon after, they were performing as an acoustic duo. The Drifters were originally filled out with Derrick Dutton on lead guitar, Marty Mack on drums and Vincent Bryce on bass. Their debut album, The Highway Is My Home, was released in late spring 2008. MDD was the New Artist of the Year at the 2009 Gruene With Envy Awards. Joe Churchill left the group by March 2009 and Kristen Kelly briefly continued performing as Kristen Kelly and The Modern Day Drifters, but ultimately "Modern Day Drifters" was dropped entirely.
