Swedish pop band that was formed in 1964 and was active until the end of the 1960s. Nursery Rhymes was formed by five 16-year-old Stockholm girls who played together during school. They were inspired by contemporary American and English pop music, especially by groups such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Nursery Rhymes belonged to the better-known bands in Sweden during the 1960s, but were somewhat stepmotherly treated by the press. In the newspapers it could read: "Of course they are cute - but they also sound", "five pretty girls" and "girl pop band". Nursery Rhymes toured over large parts of Sweden and also played in Denmark, Germany and England. When the band disbanded at the end of the 1960s, Marie Selander began to devote herself to folk music and world music. Birgitta Nordgren-Pincott and Wiveca Säwén played in the band NQB during the 1970s.
