Mallika Hermand

Born in 1985, this Swiss musician of Sri Lankan origin studied the violin and then the piano. But it was as a singer that she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in the jazz section of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, in 2010 where she studied with Susanne Abbuehl (jazz). Between 2013 and 2015, Mallika obtained a Master of Performance in the jazz section of the University of Lucerne, then a Master of Pedagogy where she studied with Lauren Newton. She had the opportunity to go to New York several times to study with the biggest names in jazz such as Jon Hendricks, Annie Ross, Kurt Elling, Darmon Meader (New York Voices) and Cynthia Scott (backing vocalist for Ray Charles). . She pursues a dense musical journey between musicals, French song projects, contemporary music, jazz and pop. Reflecting a generation which multiplies references, it claims the influence of Radiohead and alternative pop groups integrating electronic music, big names in French song, jazz and classical music. It is with KKAAN that she explores the world of pop with multiple vintage synthesizers alongside Nicolas Gerber (keyboards), Gaël Zwahlen (guitar) and Nicolas Pittet (drums).
