Barbershop bass vocalist. Born on July 12, 1929 in Harmony, Minnesota. John was a 67 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and sang in many quartets throughout his life. His first quartet was the Par Four. They performed in the Twin Cities area and on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scout. When he was drafted into the Army in 1952, he started the Hut-Four Quartet. He was a member of the quartet for nearly 20 years and traveled all across the country singing on national TV and traveling on a USO tour of Vietnam. After the Hut-Four retired, John sang and played the string bass in the Salty Dogs quartet for 17 years. John passed away on October 8, 2019 at the age of 90.
