Savitri Devi, or Savitri Devi Mukherji, originally Maximiani Julia Portaz, born 30 September 1905 in Lyon, France, died 22 October 1982 in Sible Hedingham in Essex, England, due to cardiac arrest. She was an academic of Franco/Greek descent, with higher degrees in philosophy and chemistry and a Ph.D. in theory of science. Known for her Ariosophical efforts to bring together Hinduism and National Socialism; she wrote on subjects such as mathematics, ecology, religion, language and ancient history; but is chiefly noted for her esoteric philosophical thesis of Adolf Hitler as one of Vishnu's avatars, namely Kalki. Savitri Devi was a pioneer in animal rights activism as she freed animals from experimental laboratories and advocated deep ecology.
