Asmahan (Arabic: أسمهان) [November 25, 1912 - July 14, 1944] was a Syrian singer who lived and rose to fame in Egypt. She sang the compositions of Mohamed Abdel Wahab and her brother [a1335859], a legendary musician in his own right. Her voice was one of the few female voices in Arab music world to pose serious competition to that of [a249512]. She also starred in a couple of movies.
