Annamari Vänskä

PhD, Adjunct Professor specialized in art history, visual culture, visualised consumer culture, critical gender studies, queer theory, childhood studies, and in fashion studies. Her long-term interest has been to explore how commercialised visual culture, especially advertising and fashion, shape our understanding of our gendered and sexualised identities, how clothes communicate and how they are read, and how they are used in identity (de)construction. She has also been singer songwriter in Finnish alternative rock bands in 1990s.
