US country performer (nee Ann Matthews) (B: 27 November 1919 - D: 13 February 1992) was part of the western swing scene of the 1940 and '50s, notably playing on the West Coast in various live venues and radio programs. She became a bandleader in the early 1950's, leading the "all girl" country group, [a3846116] over the course of several decades. One of her longest collaborators was steel player Blanche Emerson, in the band right through to the late 1970s.
