Wilton Clary

b. 1917- b. 1985 Started in regional opera companies and made it to Broadway in 1946, where he sung in several musicals, the most important as [a647248]'s understudy as Curly during the 1947 season of the first run of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma. He also starred in "The Desert Song", "The Barrier" and "Three Wishes of Jamie". He became a vocal pedagogue in North Carolina where he murdered a 16 year old pupil in 1981. He was convicted and died in prison of a heart attack in 1985.
