Peter Gane

British classical trombonist, conductor, Professor of Trombone, and author. Born in 1948 in Poole, Dorset, England, UK. He studied at the Royal Northern College Of Music. He was a member of the London Symphony Orchestra (1968-1972), serving as Assistant Principal in 1972. Becoming a teacher in 1971, he became a professor at The Guildhall School Of Music & Drama and 10 years later he would become a Fellow and accept the post of Professor of Wind and Percussion. He was Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion from 1988 until 2008. He has a long-standing association with the National Youth Orchestra Of Great Britain and the European Union Youth Orchestra, where he has been professor of trombone since 1977 and 1984 respectively.
