Owen McBride

Born in Ireland in 1941, Owen is a folk singer who moved to Toronto, Canada, in 1963. His repertoire is primarily traditional Irish and Scottish songs. He has performed at various venues and festivals across Canada and the United States, most notably the Mariposa Folk Festival. Owen performed at that festival nearly every year, from 1964 into the 1980s. In 2019, he was inducted into the Mariposa Folk Foundation Hall of Fame. In 2018, he appeared in a short documentary about his friend, Leon Redbone. Owen's recordings are held in the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives & Collections, pat of the Smithsonian's Center for Folklife & Cultural Heritage (CFCH).
