When Gruppe Elefant was founded in 1976 by students of the Weimar College of Music, Marion Scharf was their singer. In 1980 she moved to Berlin. Collaborations with Holger Biege and Günther Fischer followed. In the mid 1980s she moved to West Germany with singer Michael Lindt. Their daughter is Anne Lindt from the duo Lindt Bennett.
