Jean Amos

American folk singer and songwriter. Born February 5, 1942, Los Angeles, California. Daughter of an opera bass father and a pianist mother. She was an alto, mezzo-soprano, and soprano singer for The Womenfolk. She made her first album with "Two for the Road – Penny and Jean”) at age 16. She joined The Womenfolk while in college and appeared on three albums — “Never Underestimate the Power of The Womenfolk,” “The Womenfolk at the hungry i” and “Man Oh Man! The Womenfolk”. After The Womenfolk, she worked in TV on both sides of the camera, writing and producing educational television programs for the City of New York. She appeared on “Around the Corner” and many educational TV programs. She taught basic, as well as ragtime and classical guitar most of her life.
