The Off Beats were a vocal quintet made up of four men, Jonno, Nokie, The Badger and Ray (Brainy Ray) and a female, Ali G..The four men were from the Surrey Police. Ali G. at the time was a PA for the Chairman of Unilever based at Walton-on-Thames. They backed Colin Young who was the lead singer of The Foundations when they had the hit in 1968, "Build Me Up Buttercup". Their re-recording of the song was released in 2003. All proceeds were to go the charity, Milly's Fund, a fund set up in memory of murdered school girl Amanda Dowler. She was also known as Milly and "Build Me Up Buttercup" was a favorite song of hers..
