Bert Howell

Obscure black performer who recorded two titles as part of Howell, Horsely & Bradford for Columbia in 1926, a Florence Mills tribute song for Victor in 1928 and four titles for Paramount (two comedy songs as Easton & Howell on Paramount 13061 and two popular songs on Paramount 13063) in 1931. Appeared in Kilpatrick's Old-Time Minstrels on Broadway in 1930 Born c.1899 in New York. died 1940 in New York aged 41 (source U.S. Census 1940) Given the above date of death this is not the black comedy performer who recorded for National and appeared at Club Zanzibar with Buddy Bowser (Billboard Sep. 21, 1946 p.36) and not the British/Australian bandleader Bertram (Bert) Howell (1893-1961)
