Schmrtz Teatar

Schmrtz Teatar was founded in 1995 by a group of young people who were interested in applied art by "recycling old ideas" about modern and politically engaged theatrical statements. Since its beginnings they primarily wanted to question human rights policies, ecology, social crticism, modern primitivism, subculture movements, alternative social views, civil society, cultural autonomy ... The group states neither a definied hierarchical structure nor a constant leadership that is membership - it is strongly fluid and acts mostly in the form of "ad hoc" groupings. A constant stronghold of the group are musical and multimedia instalations concerning overall socio-critical engagement (see also : Living Theatre, San Francisco Red Theatre, Andy Warhol's Factory scene, The Fugs).
