Soup was a punk band from Berkeley CA in the late 80s. Also they were the first band to play at the Gilman St. Project in Berkeley, Along with Crimpshrine, [a261324], and [a327355], these bands would play together so often, and shared so many friends/fans centered around 924 Gilman, that they were sometimes referred to as "Crimpsoupivyocracy".
