Robin Scott (5)

First controller of BBC Radio 1 (1967-1969) and also songwriter. Born 24 October 1920, Died 7 February 2000. He oversaw the transition of The Light Programme into today's BBC Radio 2. Mark Paul was an alias used by Scott when he and entertainer [a693164] translated the French song "La tamise et mon jardin" by Pierre Dudan into the English "Softly, Softly" in 1954. It went #1 in the U.K. for Ruby Murray.
