Herman The German (2)

Austin, Texas guitarist and vocalist. Born in Friedrichshafen, Germany, he was adopted at age five and grew up in Belgium speaking Flemish. He moved to America in 1972, first to Houston , Texas where he began his career playing surf instrumentals. He moved to Austin a year later. In Austin, he started playing bass guitar with soul band Willy Samson And The Attitudes. By the mid-1980s, he formed the group The Ranchhands, which became Herman The German & Das Cowboy, a band that plays a blend of surf, polka and rockabilly.
