Harold Covill

Harold Covill comes from March in Cambridgeshire. He has been previously recorded as a singer, and can be heard in ‘The Folk Songs of Britain Series’, and on such songs as A Soldier’s Life for Me and Songs of Animals and Other Marvels. His father was a fine mouth organ player and he would often pinch his mouth organ and take it to school. When he got home he would be expected to play a tune. Shortly after this his father bought him his own instrument and he has never been without one since. He often plays for local dances and ‘when the band has failed to turn up’ he uses an amplifier to increase his volume.
