Edward O'Neal

American gospel singer and songwriter. BMI IPI #: 52372694. Born August 17, 1937 Saint Louis, Missouri. Died December 15, 1990 (age of 53) Saint Louis, Missouri. Brother of [a2404484]. Easy to be confused with Ed O'Neal, who was also a gospel singer/songwriter. He began singing gospel at age 12. In 1969, the O’Neals were voted the “World’s Greatest Gospel Duo” by the National Association of Television and Radio Artists. Their duet “Jesus Dropped the Charges” won them national acclaim in the movie “Say Amen, Somebody” — a documentary on gospel music pioneer Willa Mae Ford Smith.
