Sovjet War

Existing in a different incarnation as "The Sovjets" in 1979, they had not yet met Leon and had a different guitarist. They released two 30 minute cassettes with this line-up (about 1000 total) and sold them all. As harder punk music was on its way out around this time, they adapted, changing their name to "Sovjet War" and incorporating poppier influences. The band existed for 2 years playing shows extensively about 2 times a week, with such bands as Red Zebra, The Sound, Neon Judgement, Nitwitz, and Svätsox among others. Sovjet War comes from Leuven and balances on the border between old school punk and dark post-punk. The band initially existed between 1979 and 1984, first as The Sovjets and from 1982 as Sovjet War, but was relaunched at the end of 2019, just in time to suddenly be banned from performing for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
