The Defenders (8)

Irish band from Dublin active July-October, 1979, formed to help Heat fanzine pay legal costs to U2’s manager Paul McGuinness. Eamon Carr, Johnny Fean & Charles O'Connor of Horslips, with Frankie Morgan of Sacre Bleu, Steve Averill & Mark Megaray of The Radiators From Space, with Billy Morley (ex-Revolver (20) & Radiators From Space) and others played a gig at the National Ballroom 25 July 1979. In October 1979, Gary Eglington (The Noise Boys) joined Carr, Fean, and O'Connor at Keystone Studios to record the group's only release.
