R&B singer, songwriter and producer, born in St. Louis, Missouri. Gene began his career appearing on Russ Carter's "St. Louis Hop," at KSD-TV St. Louis Missouri at the age of 12. Around the same time he was contributing backing vocals on Ike Turner tracks. In his teens Gene would co-found Royal-Tone records. Gene would continue recording and performing solo, as a band leader and has collaborated with the likes of Kurtis Blow, Sugar Hill Gang, Snoop Dog, Eric Clapton, Isaac Hayes, Ann Peebles, etc. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for a song he wrote for Albert King entitled, Love In The Food Stamp Line.
