Kaya Ålander

Swedish singer and guitarist, born January 28, 1946 in Malmö St. Petri parish. Kaya Ålander grew up mainly in Malmö, but for a period in Stockholm. She became a bachelor of philosophy in literary history, Nordic languages, phonetics and pedagogy at Lund University in 1972 and graduated as a leisure pedagogue in Lund in 1977. She studied at Birkagården Folk High School's music department in Stockholm 1979–81 and at the Stockholm Institute of Music's singing pedagogy line 1982–85. During the 70s, Ålander was active in the FNL groups' singing group Giai Phong in Lund and in 1973–1981 was a member of the feminist music group Röda Bönor from the same city. She was the choir leader for Kör de Filé in Stockholm 1980–2001 and has also collaborated with [a615690]. During the 2000s, she has for several terms represented the Left wing in the Church of Sweden in the church council.
