Richard D'Oyly Carte

Richard D'Oyly Carte (born May 3, 1844, London, England – died April 3, 1901, London, England) was an English talent agent, theatrical impresario, composer and hotelier during the latter half of the Victorian era. He founded the [a1234806] and built the state-of-the-art Savoy Theater, London to host Gilbert & Sullivan operas. He also built the Savoy Hotel, London. Father of Rupert D'Oyly Carte and grandfather of Bridget D'Oyly Carte.
