Tony Wells

US producer, mixer, songwriter and soul singer. Mr. Wells, a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, began his career as a member of [a945278], and began working on recordings tracked at the University's sound studios, where he came to the attention of label owner Cliff Williamson. He signed to Tree Publishing Co., Inc. as a songwriter, and recorded for Williamson's Decade Records (5) label before joining RCA Records in 1979. From 1981 to 1987 he was A&R Talent Manager for Black Music at RCA, New York. Artists such as Johnny Gill, Denroy Morgan and Richard 'Dimples' Fields have recorded his compositions.
