American visual artist (14 March 1941, Long Beach, California — 25 July 2022, Amagansett, New York). Jennifer Bartlett was known for largescale paintings and prints that combined strict conceptual system-based aesthetics with a more intuitive, Neo-Expressionism approach. She often made "mozaic-like" compositions of small enamel-coated square steel plates. Bartlett received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mills College in 1963, followed by MFA in 1965 at the Yale School of Art and Architecture in New Haven, where Jennifer studied with Josef Albers, Jack Tworkov, Jim Dine and Richard Serra. Her early influences include Arshile Gorky, Piet Mondriaan and Sol Lewitt. Bartlett's works are in permanent collections of many prestigious museums and art institutions, such as Metropolitan Museum Of Art, MoMA, Guggenheim Museum in New York, Whitney Museum Of American Art, the National Gallery Of Art, Washington, D.C. and Tate Modern in London, UK.
