Not to be confused with Lonnie Liston Smith Born 3 July 1942 in Lackawanna, New York, USA; died 28 September 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Smith (later self-styled as Dr. Lonnie Smith) is known for his prowess on the Hammond B3 organ. He tours extensively and has played alongside many of the world’s jazz and R&B greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Grover Washington, Jr., Ron Carter, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy McGriff, Jimmy Scott, Frank Foster, [a181208], [a44131], Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Etta James, Esther Phillips, The Impressions and The Coasters and others.
