Steve Shive

Drummer & co-founder of Vermilion, with my son Ryan on guitar & my daughter Brooke on lead vocals. I am also the drummer with The Philadelphia Soul Society, with former members of Psychedelic Furs, Blue Oyster Cult and ODW. I also play drums with famed guitarist Mason Ruffner who has played with Bob Dylan, Santana and Jimmy Page. Some of the artists I've performed and recorded with over my career are: Brooke Shive & the 45's (co-founder w/ Brooke Shive), Tim Moore (who wrote the hit songs Second Avenue, & Rock 'n Roll Love Letter), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Daryl Hall, David Lindley, Rosie Butler, Kingfish, Jimi Jamieson, Skip Scarboro (EWF),Robbie Dupree, and legendary producer/engineer Ken Scott (The Beatles, Elton John, David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Procol Harum, Super Tramp, Stanley Clarke, among others). I also performed recently, in 2013, with TJ Tindall's East Coast, with my friend & guitarist, the legendary late TJ Tindall (Gamble & Huff, Bonnie Raitt, Michael Jackson, Chambers Bros., etc., etc.) Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Michael Hampton (P-Funk, Living Colour), and Willie Chambers (Chamber Bros.). Also involved with this band were: The Soul Survivors, Gary Balducci (Bonnie Bramlett, Rita Coolidge) Glenn McClelland (Blood, Sweat & Tears, Ween), Jim Mahoney (Gamble & Huff, Robert Palmer) and Daryl DIxon & the Chops Horn section (Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder)!! I'm a lifelong musician, & composer. Family and home life is most important. I have a beautiful wife and 2 unbelievably talented and intelligent children. And 2 amazing grandchildren, Henry and Ella Marie! The payoff for me is that after 40 years in the music business playing drums, that I'm still at it!! In a fantastic band with my daughter, Brooke Shive, and my son Ryan David Shive, one of my songwriting partners!
