Georgia Lee (2)

Australian Aboriginal jazz and blues singer. Born in Cairns, Queensland in 1921. First sang professionally with her sister, Heather, as the Lee Sisters with the Bob Lyons Band. Went to Sydney in 1946 (adding her Brother Wally to form a trio). After the trio broke up in 1947 began singing at the Roosevelt as a solo act and also made Broadcasts on the Colgate-Palmolive Show and the ABC's "Hit Parade". In April 1949 got a six-month contract at Claridge's in Melbourne and stayed in Melbourne until 1953. Went to London in 1953 and worked with Geraldo. Returned to Australia in 1957 and was featured in the Nat King Cole Show followed by a season at Chequer's. Died on 23 April 2010, in a Cairns nursing home.
