The Irish Brigade (2)

The Irish Brigade are a folk music group formed in Detroit in 1975 by Irish ex-pats Gerry Goodwin and Mike Wallace (both of County Limerick). They tool their name from a Davenport, Iowa tavern. This initial incarnation released 5 albums together. The group split up in 1981 when Goodwin returned to Ireland. In 1984, Goodwin returned and the second phase of the group began. (Goodwin, however, would not appear on any further recordings leaving the group in 1986.). Sean Conway and Dan Newton were added in 1987. Newton would only remain for a year but Conway stuck with the Brigade until 2006. Joe Smith joined in 2007 and he and Wallace are the present configuration of the band.
