Meep was formed in spring of 2000. Mick Hartman met with Aaron Derington and they started writing and practicing. Soon after, they added Matt Collene to play Theremin on a few songs and add some sound effects. Early 2001, Damion Hays convinced himself he needed to play bass for Meep.
