US swing era saxophonist, clarinetist, and singer Bradley was born in Arkansas, but moved to Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 9. At the age of 15, she moved to New York, and acquired the stage name Ruth Bradley. She landed a job as a saxophonist and clarinetist for Vincent Lopez (2)'s all-girl band, The Debutantes. After two years, she moved on to play with Ina Ray Hutton. Bradley gave up saxophone when she joined the orchestra of Bunny Berigan, and became the lead vocalist. In 1949 Bradley joined the WOW-TV musical staff in Omaha, Nebraska. She retired from show business in the early 1950s.
