Burntface

Burntface (Amharic: 'የተቃጠለ ፊት) is an Ethiopian-American hip-hop MC based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America with roots in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, performing with lyrics in Amharic and English. Also known as The Profit, Professor Askala Bilaq or Scholar Black, Burntface is considered a pioneer in Ethiopian hip-hop (Habesha Hip-hop) being one of the first to take samples from Mahmoud, Tilahun, and many other famous Ethiopian artists to create a uniquely Ethiopian soundscape while delivering lyrics in Amharic or English over hip-hop drums. He has since joined forces with Meklit Hadero and Gabriel Teodros to form the CopperWire.
