Àbòt

Об исполнителе:
Icelandic studio project of the members from Keflavík, Jóhann Helgason and Magnús Þór Sigmundsson in the spring of 1974 but they were also in the band Change which was about this time trying to break through in the UK. Ábót was a kind of side project for them, but they were joined by drummer Hrólf Gunnarsson, guitarist Björgvin Gíslason and keyboardist Þorstein Ólafsson (who is actually better known for his national team career in football but he was Iceland's goalkeeper for years). The album also features some female voices from Kvennakór Suðurnesja. The album was well received and the album received t.a.m. good reviews in Vísir but more reviews probably did not appear on this album. It was released by a new record company, Joke Records, which was owned by Jón Ólafsson. The album was four songs and enjoyed some popularity, especially the song Litla músin but it has been released many times since, including the compilation albums Barnagull (1986), Bítlabærinn Keflavík (1998) and Svona var det 1975 (2008). Furthermore, other singers have taken it up in their arms, Gísli Guðmundsson on the album Óli prik, the children's best friend (1985) and Birgitta Haukdal on the album Perlur (2004). Magnús and Jóhann were to release another children's album, the album Allra meina bót, which was released a year later (1975) with other crew under the name Grámann og Hrámann, but they have also been involved in numerous children's albums later, e.g. Children and days, Pósturinn Páll, the aforementioned Óli prik etc.
