American modern vocal group, they appeared in several motion pictures and numerous radio shows, later the name was expanded to "Mel Tormé and the Mel-Tones" in recognition of Mel Tormé's dual role as the arranger and solo vocalist. The group disbanded in 1947, when Mel Tormé started his solo career. Members were [a349798], Diz Disruhd, Betty Beveridge, and Ginny O'Connor, plus Tormé who doubled as arranger. Disruhd was replaced by Les Baxter in 1944.
