Howard R. Garis

American author of numerous children's books and series (1873 Binghamton, New York - 1962 Amherst, Massachusetts), including the bestselling "Uncle Wiggily" series about an elderly rabbit. "Uncle Wiggily" stories also appeared six days a week in a nationally syndicated newspaper column from 1910-1947. Together with bird imitator Edward Avis, Garis recorded a children's record "Bird Calls with Story" for Columbia in 1920.
