Rope (14)

Rope was a short-lived American punk band from El Paso, Texas. It's notable as the first joint project by close friends and collaborators Laura Beard and Sarah Reiser, established in their early teens. Rope was one of the earliest "all-girl" bands to reach acclaim and earn respect on the predominantly male West Texas punk scene. Sarah and Laura played in several other local groups and published a feminist "riot grrrl" zine together, Femme Fatale. In 1995, they contributed backing vocals on At The Drive-In's second 7" single, , later co-founding The Fall On Deaf Ears band with Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At The Drive-In and Clint Newsom (from Rhythm Of Black Lines and The Hades Kick). In March 1997, two friends died in a car accident; Sarah and Laura were only 17. Few months later, Bixler and Newsom released a commemorative 1342860 7" split on Western Breed Records, featuring all known songs by Rope and two FODE tracks on the B-side.
