Danish bassist, composer, but also educator at Syddansk Musikkonservatorium & Skuespillerskole, born on October 4, 1982 in Daugård, Vejle, Denmark. Andersson, with roots in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, grew up in a musical family but never showed much interest in music until the age of 14 when his life was turned upside down after a fireworks accident that cost him his sight. After this, he would find his way into jazz first through [a145273] and, later, the live recordings of pianist Brad Mehldau. Many more years later, Richard Andersson has gained great recognition for his work as a composer and bass player in the modern jazz field. He has released several albums as a bandleader with Danish and international musicians such as Óskar Guðjónsson, Rudi Mahall, [a214008], Jerry Bergonzi, Ra-Kalam Bob Moses, Tony Malaby and Bill McHenry. Andersson can also be found in collaborations with musicians such as Jeff "Tain" Watts, Tomas Franck, Kresten Osgood, [a695103], Sigurður Flosason and others. His music education began at the Carl Nielsen Academy Of Music, Denmark (2003-2008), continued at the Manhattan School Of Music in New York (2008-2009), and at Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium, Copenhagen (2010-2014). Richard Andersson (6) is married to the musician Anne Efternøler, and he and his family live in the Copenhagen area, near the airport Kastrup, in 2023,
