The Guns was the first pop group in Halden, Norway. First the group was a duo with Lars og Finn Solheim (brothers) singing songs that Kurt Foss and Reidar Bøe had made famous.. Finn played guitar. When Egil Eliassen became the boyfriend of their sister, they formed a trio singing cover songs. They performed songs of The Platters and others. Egil usually sang the lead vocal while Lars and Finn did the backup singing. First they performed locally working togheter with Tor Helland og Tor Brynildsen. In 1959 they performed on many dance parties and private parties. May 9th 1960 they received a letter from Per Gunnar Jensen of the Manu label asking them to do a test recording. First they called themselves The Monkey Boys but they had to change it to The Guns. The Monkey Boys was too similar to The Monn-Keys, a famous Norwegian group. The Guns also played togheter with Bjørg og Per Gunnar Jensen and expanded their territory to the eastern part of Norway but they never got a national breaktrough. When Egil started working at see in 1963 The Guns was history.
